Session 13 – Networking Industry-Led Roundtable Discussions

MGES is committed to fostering in-depth discussions and promoting networking opportunities. Participants will engage in practical roundtable discussions in a relaxed and informal environment. Each table will be led by an industry expert to delve into Mozambique’s hot energy sector topics. Participants will be able to discuss key topics, exchange business cards, forge partnerships and have the opportunity to sit at two different 30-minute roundtable sessions of their choice.

Throughout the years, MGES has been committed to supporting local content and fostering opportunities for SMEs in Mozambique’s energy value chain. Many SMEs in Mozambique have incredible projects but face enormous challenges.

The MOZDEN: Mozambican SME & Business Entrepreneurs Showcase will bring a new and innovative format where local SMEs will have the opportunity to pitch and showcase their project to a panel of energy industry experts.

Each SME will have 10 minutes to present the project and the panel will provide in depth local advice on legislation, financial and procurement issues and hear direct feedback on how to get their project off the ground. The winner will receive mentoring support to ensure their project flourishes.

In 2016 Graça Machel delivered a seminal speech which galvanized and inspired women in Mozambique to act and associate in order to advance women empowerment in the energy sector. Following the inspiring speech, several associations flourished by driving real impact in Mozambique’s women empowerment in the sector.

These associations have flourished and made a real impact in the sector through training, upskilling, the promotion of opportunities and the implementation of strategies which transformed the energy industry in Mozambique.

Today, the MGES is honoured to invite Mrs. Machel once again to address the evolutive sector and receive the Inspirational Lifetime Achievement Award for her enormous impact in the development a more diverse and inclusive energy sector in Mozambique.
