Augusto de Sousa Fernando, Electrical Engineer , Vice-minister of Mines and Energy.
From August 2015 to November 2016 he was Director of Technical Unity for Project Implementation at Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy with role of ensuring the preparation and implementation of Large Scale Projects in Mozambique. Before this position February to August 2015 he was Regional Market Director at Norconsult Mozambique, a Norwegian Consultant Company with more than 30 years in Mozambique.
Form 1992 EDM Executive Chairman since March 2012. From November 2005 up to March 2012 he was Executive Board Member responsible for Generation, Transmission and Market Operator. His initial position was Protection Engineer later on System Planning and Protection Manager. He was part of the EDM and Eskom team that did the planning of the MOTRACO transmission system, which supplies power to MOZAL Aluminum Smelter in Mozambique.
From 2002 to 2005 he was a Transmission Director responsible for the Operation and Maintenance of the 66 up to 400 kV transmission grid in Mozambique with more 3500 km of lines and 3000 MVA of power transformers.
On the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP) he was the Chairman of the Telecommunications Working Group and later on the Management Committee Chairman
Since April 2010 he is Chairing the Institute of Engineers of Mozambique.
